Different species - these are Burchells Sandgrouse. I was able to prefocus on the trees and pick them up as they flew in over the trees. Also increased the DOF to get as many birds in focus as possible.

Cropped to about 80% of FF added a little canvas bottom and right - NR on background - no other birds in the frame this time.

Hi Pieter,

I think you have done a great job. The birds are all sharp and in focus, and I like the angle that they are coming at the viewer. For me the oof trees add a sense of depth. The crop is just right.

Beautiful composition, Pieter. It's great that you got all of them in focus. I like how you got the eye contact with two of the birds.

I like the separation you achieved from the background and amazed all three are in focus...well done on all accounts.

Pieter, good choice of aperture, as all three are in perfect focus. Interesting to see three different flight postures, and I like the inclusion of the OOF foliage. Well captured.

i would like to see a 16:9 composition: a little more room on both sides and less at the bottom; very nice picrture

Like how you got all three very sharp. Great light as well.

Thanks a lot guys for your kind comments. Stuart you are so right, whilst editing the images I was amazed at the different flight positions these birds adopt when the flocks come in. Pity I did'nt get more keepers.

Paolo thank you for your suggestion, I had a look at the 16:9 composition which looks good, but I still prefer it as posted. My main reason, the birds are landing and I wanted to have room at the bottom.
