Yesterday we(NWPLI) did our second annual captive bird shoot. We work with a local rehab/rescue center run by 2 great people , Kathy and Bobby Horvath. They bring us some magnificent birds and we set up the perches and scout out the location. We open it up to local Camera clubs and ask for a $20.00 PP donation which 100% of is given to Kathy and Bobby as they do what they do all on their own , depending only on whatever donations they can get. Last year we raised $500.00 and yesterday we raised $740.00. Hope for an even grand next year.:)

Great bird and photographic technique. EXP right one, BKGR loverly, and I don't even mind the bit of evergreen. Any clear why the ears are of different lengths? Very sharp.

As to the ears , I asked that question and it was explained that this is an immature bird and the ears will even out as it matures.

Thanks Joe. That does not make a lot of sense but it's all we have to go with :)

Very nice work Joe. I love the down-the-lens gaze. Color, sharpness, comp, and background are top-notch.

Hey Joe, sounds like you guys had fun. I'd like to see the whole set up you did for the bird, although the head shot is sweet.

Simply stunning. All of the techs are right on and it's a beautiful subject.

I've often seen owls in the wild with one ear back while one is more upright...are you sure that's not that's going on here?
