Hi
I have been reworking some jpegs from last year in Costa Rica.
No EXIF for this but thought you would enjoy; such wonderful birds.
Obviously enjoying his Beach Almond!

Hi Richard,

It's difficult to offer helpful suggestions without the EXIF information. This is a nice behavior capture of a beautiful species, I think you could improve it by trying to lighten the bird's foot and head since it is much darker than the rest of the bird, looks like you were working in a shaded spot and you did the best you could with it. Also if you have the room I would add canvas to the left and top while removing some from the right and bottom. This would get the bird's eye closer to the rule of thirds position and would make the image stronger.

of course these are difficult critters, always fooling around and hiding; I was amazed how they could disappear into a bush lol

Nice suggestions by Joel, Rich. His repost really helped bring the eye out and rebalanced the image a bit more. Compositionally, this would be stronger as he suggested - taking some off bottom and right and adding it to left and top. If there is any way to clone out that leaf right in front of the bird (center, lower edge of frame) I'd get rid of it as well.

Thanks Julie - I will give it a go with the leaf.

I have quite a few of these pics and as I didnt shoot in raw then they were not well processed; never really sorted them at the time in Costa Rica

I have learned a terrific amount since joining here , so it,s time to work through them again

Canoin 40D f5.6 SS 1/200 - YIKES!!!!!, ISO 400, 400mm on 100-400

removed leaf Clone stmp CS5)- I've not done much of this so feedback welcome
recropped
