Shot this orchid at Longwood Gardens this summer. They have a great orchid display.

Hey Dave,
I like the way you composed this with the many repeating V's although I have debated a bit more on the CW rotation to give the one petal a hair more room. I do think you can lighten the petals at the top a touch also.....mostly just the yellows. I had to whip out the reading glasses to be sure but you may want to run some more USM on the main petal....could be a hair sharper imo. Flash work looks VG also and the black BG really makes it pop!

Thanks Roman, I'll take another look at it....

Roman, I lightened the top petals and ran some sharpening. I also rotated the flower more to the left and filled in the gaps made by the rotation. I like what you suggested...

Nice one! First look I thought this was a bright bug...Very different view even for you who I know loves to get in tight on these orchids. Great light and great exposure, the re-post looks very sharp. TFS

Hi Dave. Lots of cool colors and patterns on this one! I think the added sharpness on your repost takes this image up a notch. :) Well done.

Hey Dave, cool looking flower and you did a great job of capturing it in an interesting way! Roman's advice was obviously good because the repost did take it up a couple of notches.

Hi Dave, Love the repost! Orchids are very addictive flowers to photograph. There are many variations and they look very primitive to me.
