Hi Harri, great first post! Great timing on this! Love the wing position and the water droplets splashing all over. It almost looks like he is closing his eyes, like when someone splashes water at you. Your photo put a big smile on my face tonight, gotta love wildlife!
Can you add some details like where you took this

Welcome to BPN -- you've come to the right place to learn a lot. Wonderful timing here; and enough of a fish to feed the whole family. Great wing position and eye contact. Harsh light was working against you. I should let others more skilled than I am comment on the technics; but I'm guessing that the whites are a little overexposed, and that with some exposure adjustment in RAW (if you shot this in RAW), and maybe some contrast boost, you could improve an already-great shot. Congratulations.

Harri, this photo is very interesting : http://jalbum.net/browse/user/album/661481/
is this common behaviour ?

Yes. The best day in late august may be over 150 bird attack in that pond. Vicinity of the area is a lot of Ospreys nesting. The fish are planted in that pond, not really "wild" fish.

Welcome Harri. One of these summers when I go back to Finland again I have to visit the famous Osprey pond. :p

Welcome Harri, great action in this capture. The osprey may still have its nictitating membranes deployed accounting for the cloudy eyes. They protect the birds eyes when they dive.

Superb capture. I like the apparent motion in both the bird and fish.

Harri, welcome to BPN. We need you to include all the EXIF camera data you have available each time you post an image as it's the only way we can properly critique it. Also, please include any post-processing data as well (what software you used, anything taken out or added in, any significant exposure changes that you make in pp, etc.)

I double checked the whites in this as some of them appeared hot but it looks like you did very well on exposure. I feel like this might be a bit stronger if it went to a vertical frame instead of this horizontal one but that's personal preference. I feel the height of the bird would be more pronounced if you cropped in from both sides.

Very cool action image. A bit more eye contact would have put this over the top but still an excellent first post!
