Taken off the very high cliffs at Sao Vicente SW portugal

Whites are a little hot, harsh lite from the left.
I love his attitude screaming out to his mates

using I Photo only, cropped a little some NR and Sharpened a little

canon 40D 100-400 @ 400 SS 1/640 f 11.0, Ev 0

First of all this is a Yellow-legged Gull not a Lesser black-backed Gull. An LBBG have black back, even the subspecies graellsii which is a form with lighter back have darker than this.

Great pose I also love the attitude of this bird. Gulls are very fune to photo for that reason, they allways have such an attitude. Nice habitat, with the rocks, the small bush and the blue sea in the bg. Good sharpnes, look back pose and crop. Some whites looks a little hot, try to tone theme down if you can and if it gets any better.

Yes, the light angle and quality were both working against you here. The green vegetation adds to the comp, and you have just enough rock showing along the bottom.

Sounds like you are having a good time in Portugal - I'm sure you'll have loads of good stuff to post-process and share!:cool:

Daniel's comments are on target, I think. It should be possible to lighten the area a bit around the eye. That would heighten the impact. The composition is good.
