I have never seen this type of action. Then again I've only seen coots when they are in an eagles talons as it is flying off. Excellent behavioral capture here. The coot has one BIG claw foot!

Love it Jeff, Nice low angle and action droplets are all a plus. Looks sort of like a fight to the death.

Maybe they were mating and its a conservative moor hen pushing them apart, from below.

the timing and the image are very good.
I think only the birds breasts are a bit bright?

I've seen this type of interaction a number of times, but have never been fortunate enough to photograph it. This is very nicely done.

Great action picture!. Perfect timing. I have seen coots fighting many times, but I have never seen anything like that!!

very good for running on water and cking for a heart beat --glad you liked the shot

never seen it go that far but very close - 2 grebes fighting came the closes to one dying that I saw and shot --and thank you

if you see it stop and set up more than not it will happen 3 or 5 times with different birds once they get going

that may be true and also right but I have to pick an angle that I can see the action and not get locked up --young I aint no more :(and thanks for stopping by and I do agree with you

Great work, Jeff. This is an excellent action image. As mentioned, both head angles are very close to perfect. Great detail in the subjects.
