Rachel,

This looks quite dull (in the nicest way) I presume it was overcast?

I would try a little boost in contrast and after that if it needs it a tad more sharpening.

Ken - Thanks. Yes, it was very overcast. I had boosted the contrast originally but now I did a curves adjustment. Let me know what you think.

Thanks again,
Rachel

Rachel,

I have taken the original post and applied the curve preset Linear Contrast in PS4 , what do you think?

Ken - Thanks. That upped the yellow in it too?

Hi Rachel, well I prefer the OP, as it reflects an overcast day. The colours will be subdued and flat, therefore, I think this is reflected in your posting, however I feel the other two suggested alternatives are a little OTT. Personally I might be tempted to go back to your original post, duplicate the layer and try in levels bringing in the sliders left & right, but minimal, then add some more USM. Then try and follow what I suggested a while back about layers & masking? Drop me a PM if you need a refresher :D

Look forward to seeing the fruits of your labour. ;)

Hopefully, third time is the charm. Thanks Steve and Ken.

Your 2nd repost gives it just a touch more pop but still retains the overcast feel. Wouldn't be accurate to conditions at the time but I think it would bring a little more life with a tiny bit more light and color in the eye.

I liek how you used the green bush to balance the portrait of the lioness.
