Sweet bird and BKGR. A bit too tight for my taste and a just bit to much head turn. Square to the back of the camera is ideal for the facing away pose. A VERT might have worked well here.

I agree with Artie, I think a vertical with canvas added on top would work well here. Nice perch, pose, and of course, the bird. As a personal preference, I might up the midtones a bit.

Keep them coming!

Nice detailed image of this colourful bird! I would like to see a vertical crop as well.

another vote for a vertical ..otherwise including head-angle I would be very happy with.

I find that this pose lends itself well to an horizontal comp, it's just that it needs more room top and right. Awesome colours and I like the subdued lighting.

Pieter I like details and colours on this beautiful bird. I too like the horizontal presentation although I`ll echo like Dan`s comments about more space at the top and right.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions much appreciated. Tried the vertical crop and works well also tried horisontal with more room on top and right side and it is much betterthan my OP.Not sure which one I prefer. I had a look at the midtones Aidan but still prefer the subdued light, thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Pieter, difficult characters to expose coreectly, but you have done well here. Good job on both the blacks and reds, with good detail captured. I like the pose, and agree, maybe a tad tight on the right.

This is a beauty, I agree with Stuart about the exposure difficulties with this bird.
