Nice shot, I like the composition, I get the impression that the yellow on top of the head is a little hot and ideally perhaps the black plumage should be a little darker.

thanks jonathan. i appreciate that. but the plumage was pretty much same what i saw on field with that very much overcast day almost no sun .. the softness also due to that. will try to re-create what you've said and see if that makes some change in what i've seen on field for for better POV.

Mital, I like the diagonal created by the perch...but wondering if a horizontal comp would have worked better because the bird is looking straight out of teh frame. If it were looking down, I think this would have worked better. Good job considering the light conditions.

Nice perch, bird, and grip. The problem for me is that the head is angled away slightly and this has left the face a bit dark.

For me the vertical composition works but I would frame a little tighter (in particular less space at the bottom) and try to selectively sharpen the head just a little. I really like the background it is not too busy an too calm!!

But this is just my opinion .... this is a lovely shot either way.

Mital, I like the perch and the subject very much. I do agree it is looking away ever so slightly but I can see the eye and face clearly.:)
