We had near perfect light conditions at Giants Castle last weekend. Soft filtered light, and the mountain slopes in the background just recovering from a controlled burn, sprouting a flush of green:D.

Fantastic shot! I agree with stuart, never realized how big their neck is! Love the pose, the bird looks like its just floating there, great color too. Thanks for sharing!

sigh ---- wow! what a beautiful bird! I love those sharp clean feet and lovely detail in the wings. I wish his head and eyes popped as well as he does against the background - but what a gorgeous shot!

Magnificent capture, Chris !! Definition throughout, gradation and nuances of colour to match !! Wing position and that neck capped with that piercing eye.
