Taken the same day as the pelican bookmark crop.

Nikon D300, 70-200mm VR 1/500 f8 I was actually shooting in better lighting on the other side of the grade when I saw this behind me. Circle B Bar Preserve.

Would a cool silhouette. Really like the diagonal lines and the multi colored sky in the background just adds more interest, keeps the eye searching for more ducks. Very nice. Might crop a little from the bottom since the whole branch is not included. TFS.

Agree about the crop, too bad you couldn't get one to perch there also. Really intriguing image that invites you to look around the frame at the different lines and shapes. The colors of the sky are cool.

Personally, I prefer the "bookmark" image far more. This is something different and there is something with all those ducks in a row. With the current crop, I think there is just too much happening in the frame here and the eye isn't drawn to anything in particular.

What a nice shot....so well seen. Good job in getting good head angles on the top two ducks. The image starts from there and then flows nicely around.

Different perspective and, as Mike mentioned above, very inviting. Agree on the crop from the bottom. Well seen and thank you for the lesson in what different things to look for when photographing.
