These Giraffe were unfortunately disturbed in their attemp to cross the Manze channel by the return of our boat to its mooring, so being Giraffe they just stood there looking.
Taken on Manze Channel, Selous game Reserve, Tanzania,29th august 2010.

love it, Ken... very placid/tranquil feel to image.... do you have an image of this scene with all the giraffe heads clear of each other?

Ken - like this a lot. Great comp, I particularly like that the water is both in front and behind the giraffes. IMO the bird adds to the image as well. Congrats on a beauty.

Well I am amazed by the comments I like this but not that much, given the impending darkness and our return tio base, I did not get many. Unfortunately I think this is the one with least muddled Giraffes, I will check on my back up disc in the morning.
Having the option of shooting from a boat on safari is relatively rare (I exclude Mokoros here but then would you take valuable equipment on one of these totally unstable platforms), it certainly goves you a different perspective,

Ken, this is amazing. Very engaging and loved the composition. Heron adds a lot too IMO.

Harshad and Kaustubh,
Thanks a lot, it just goes to show that an "ordinary" image can have more appeal than you initially think.
