My Epson R1800 has died, so I need a new printer. I was wondering what brand printers people are using. I sure would like to find a printer that isn't as costly for ink as my epson was but still produces high quality prints. :o

I don't think my Epson 3880 is costly. Great output!

Yes that is a dream machine, but it is more than I need, do you know anything about the R2880?

I use the Epson 3800 and love it. I also know photographers who swear by the 2800. One advantage over the 3800 is that the 2800 accepts roll paper (which I assume is the same for the newer 2880). Might be an advantage for your work in addition to lower cost. However, the ink cartridges are much smaller than the 3000 series and I've heard complaints about the frequent expensive ink purchases.

Thank Rodger, after much thought and comparing, I finally order the 2880 yesterday. The final decision was the fact that it accepts rolled paper and the 3880 does not and I really got a very good buy on it. It seems that each model comes with some consistent complaint so nothing is perfect (I read many comsumer reviews for each model). The cost of ink seems to be only con that is consistent accross all the Epson models. I want to print on canvas, so I need a printer that accepts rolls and don't have room for the large format printers. I expect I will be happy with it since it has the lastest ink technology and uses the same ink as the 3880 - just in smaller cartridges.
