One from a while back - pretty overcast day and shooting into the sun.

F10 - nothing in the BG to worry about - could have stopped down more by bumping the ISO up if I had been so inclined.

Wow! Great capture. I like everything about the picture. Maybe just a little more cropping from the top and bottom.

Good tip on thinking about the BG Lance. Why not shut down a bit for some extra DoF?!

Super kite with almost a baby-like face. I like face-on head angles myself because they give an impression of what others of the species see when they look at each other.

Interesting placement of the bird in the frame. I would have been inclined to give more room to the left but this works nicely.

Gosh, Lance, that is one exquisite portrait! The tonal range is great - really makes each layer of feathers demand the viewer's attention - and those eyes...wow! Because of the way the bird is standing in the frame, I think you could even move it more to the left and let the right side have the extra space. I'd also crop just a bit from the top.
