The Texas City Dike, closed since Hurricane Ike 2 years ago, reopened Saturday. Unfortunately there was hardly a cloud in the sky, which made my favorite subjects there, American Oystercatchers, almost impossible to expose correctly (you know; black and white birds). Nonetheless, it is a good place to photograph feeding pelicans.
Comments and critique welcomed. regards~Bill

Hi Bill, I like the diving action and your composition. I would vote for a little more detail on the pelican overall. I like the colors of the bird and the bg, they are quite nice together.

Nice image and application, Bill. I love to watch the pelicans feeding. Comical and neat!

Agree with Kerry on detail, but nice image.

Bil, This has a little less detail than most of your work but I like the slight softness for this one. Colors and comp. are nice.

Excellent diving pose, Bill. Nice colors and comp. I don't mind the slight softness to this, though I might sharpen the head and bill just a tad.

Thanks for the comments and observations. I was not happy with the sharpness of the base image, and the resulting softness of the image. This was largely due to the bright high contrast light, and the main reason I try to avoid such conditions. regards~Bill
