I started off with an in camera blur of a Bird of Paradise bloom. I added so many rounds of USM that it started to take on a different look as Kerry had described. So I continued to pour on the filters. I used a bunch. Any way my contribution to "filter abuse"!!!!:)

Denise, that is an amazing transformation! To me it looks like an interstellar explosion. Gorgeous colors.

Thanks Indranil, The more I look at it the more I think it needs a crop off the bottom. Any thoughts?

I love the colors. It looks like an explosion in the water (OH no not again!) or tongues of fire. Very cool!

I think a crop would probably look better, now that you mention it.

Looks like a tropical scorpion fish to me. Yes to other-worldly.

I think you are right. Taking a bit of bottom would work nicely to position the color explosion across the canvas.

denise, love the effect you made. The solid wavy lines remind me of rock striations... like a slice of agate/jade on steroids!:D

Denise, I love the colors. Did you use filters other than USM? I like the crop just the way it is.:)

Steve and Cheryl Thanks, I appreciate it.
Cheryl, I used so many but some of the ones that come to mind are plastic wrap, accented edges, lots of blend modes. If it's in photoshop it's probably been used on this image:)
