I guess as long as I'm doing dragonflies, I'd try another. This one (type unknown to me) was at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix this morning.

Canon 7D
Canon EF400mm f/5.6L

1/1600sec f/8 ISO 500 HH

Crop, S/H, sharpening in CS5
NR in Noiseware Pro

Hey Jim, you have good details on the body, but you didn't have anything but the sky as a background so you could have went with a higher f-stop and gotten more depth of field to bring all the nice details of the wings in focus as well. When you're dealing with cluttered BG is when you have to use the lower f-stops, but if you have no distractions as you do with the clear sky you can stop down for more DOF.

I agree with Mike on the higher f stop for more DOF. I would have started with f16 probably for this shot. This is an unusual angle which is kind of interesting. Not used to seeing the bottom side of these dragons. Well captured and I like the details shown in the body.

Other than wanting a bit more DOF, this looks great anyway. Good advice given above.
