Hi Allen, Nice detail in the black sand i like the green water, the whites on the breast look a tad hot on my monitor but when i checked the values in PS they were ok might be my monitor:)

Alan:

Another nice loon. Good comp, sharp, pleasant blend of blues and greens in water, good shooting angle.
Wish there was just a bit more detail or texture showing on the breast. Always a challenge for these fellows in any by the softest light. If you haven't already, you might consider running a selection on the breast area and using either linear burn or the multiply mode to coax out a bit more detail.

Cheers

Killer colors in the water Alan. Good suggestion from Randy on controlling the whites.

I did do that already. There is detail there, at least in the full size tiff. I did the lb at 8%. If I went higher it looked "muddy." I find I can only use the burn up to around 12 before I do not like the results.

Alan: I thought perhaps you had already done some linear burn, you can just see a hint of the brown tint that accompanies that treatment. I agree, that most images won't tolerate much before the 'muddiness' creeps in.

Keep the loons coming!
