Hey Art,
The eyes look fantastic with the water drops on them.....unfortunately for me......all the other elements of the BG compete with them. Good job not using the flash.....would have caused major highlights in those drops......not sure what angle you could have went for to eliminate those distractions though.

I'm afraid I'm with Roman on this one. I love the eyes but the other foliage and bright colored legs are totally pulling my attention away. I tried a closer crop and deleted the purple legs but the foliage that showed was still too strong for my tastes. Next time try f8 and see if you don't get all the detail with less BG.

I tried all apertures from 2.8 to F16. The BG does blur with the wider apertures, but the dof becomes very narrow. I was at minimum focusing distance for the shot. The dragonfly was parked on a pyramid cedar tree. There was no option for the bg. I did try to mute the bg.

Despite the BG I still like this shot ... the drops on the eyes showing the compound structure is a fascinating element.
