NANPA is awarding scholarships for up to 12 college students to attend NANPA’s 17th Annual Nature Photography Summit in McAllen, Texas, from March 7-14, 2011, and the deadline for applications is November 8, 2010. (Students arrive two days early to participate in the College Program photo shoot.)
The scholarship covers all student expenses while at the Summit, including lodging, meals and the Summit registration fee. Students will attend presentations by top industry professionals and breakout sessions covering all aspects of nature photography.
In addition, students will photograph in the field alongside professional photographers and mentors and will participate in a one-on-one portfolio review by one of the nation’s top picture editors, stock agents or photographers.
Students qualify for scholarships via an application process, including a portfolio submission. A major in art or photography is not required, but students must demonstrate their passion for nature photography to a selection committee. Applicants must be fulltime students at a two- or four-year college, university or trade school and be at least 19 years of age by December 31, 2010. Please forward this information to any college student that you think might be interested in attending the Summit. Ask the student to visit the direct link to the college scholarship program at www.nanpa.org/students (http://www.nanpa.org/students)app_ process_co. php .
This scholarship program brings an outstanding group of young men and women to the Nature Photography Summit each year, so please keep in mind any internship opportunities you might have available for the 2011 College Scholarship students. If you have potential internship positions, please contact the College Committee (keithsnell@earthlink.net (keithsnell@earthlink.net)) prior to the Summit so we can ensure the students have an opportunity to meet with you.
Please help us get the word out to potential applicants and colleges and universities in your area by telling them about the NANPA Summit College Photography Scholarship Program. Remember, the deadline for applications is November 8, 2010.
