Image created on my recent visit to Giant's Castle.
Luckily we had several approaches and landings in good wind conditions and not too late in the day.
Often ,with low wind conditions ,these magnificent fliers wait until late morning to catch the thermals - often too late for good captures.

Excellent light, great wing position, and cool dangling feet. I like the rock in the LLC; it provides a nice anchor. This would look a lot better at 1024 pixels wide, as it would allow us to see more detail in the bird's head.

Great wing position and exposure. It looks like it can be a little sharper on the head and body.I also like the BG colors, nice shot.

Hi Arno, great landing posture with the outspread wings, and good to see the rock as the landing zone. Another good GC BG too. Well captured.

Arno, Great landing shot. I like the inclusion of the rock. I would like to see a bit more detail in the head, maybe as Doug suggested a larger image.:)

Lord, how do you manage to breathe and operate your camera when you see one of these flying right down the pike? Killer braking wing spread and BKGR. Did this one land safely?

Great incoming pose and feather detail. Subject is sharp ands well exposed against a killer bg. Well done on a super shot ;)

Thanks everyone for the constructive comments !
Arthur ,although they approach fast they have tremendous control on landing and actually land very delicately ( unless chasing off white-necked ravens !)
Will repost at 1024 px and see whether more detail on the head emerges. Thanks :)
