Jon, you are really hunting these guys, aren't you? I love that you captured him in flight - it would of course be stronger if he was heading towards you rather than away from you but I doubt ANY of us move that fast! I think you managed to freeze the body nicely but I do wish there was a bit more freeze at the edge of the wings. I don't mind the blur of motion showing but you're losing the edges to the BG and that seems a bit confusing. Maybe increasing the ss another notch or two would do it.

Good job on getting this, Jon! How many attempts did it take to get this one?

Of course a more of a head-on angle would be better but this really isn't a type of shot you can do much setup with. I think you did great! As Jules said, there's something about the wings that doesn't look quite right but I honestly can't say what it is. Maybe having some really sharp and some extra blurry? I really don't know.

Really cool to see its leg positions in flight mode. Excellent catch and worth continuing to get that "perfect" shot.

Sharp details, great exp!-The blurred wing, keeps drawing my eye, away...depending on your af point, a higher F stop, would help, with higher SS; still great catch, very different indeed and keep'm coming!

Hey Jonathan,
Angle already covered. They are creatures of habit.....so I find it easier to get them flying when I pre-focus on a perch....just before they land! This may help you on some future attempts!

Nice job catching this one in flight. I like the BG--gives the impression of up, up and away!
