I was leaving the lake are some time after 9 this morning and saw
this great egret ahead. Around here, they normally lift off when approached.
Idled along in the car ever so slowly and got closer and closer.

Lifted the MkIIn and 400mm to the window and he gave me this portrait.
Never did give me a head turn!! :(

This is very nice. The crop works very well. Excellent exposure control.

Great choice of crop - I like this one alot. The exposure is just right, and the dark BG looks great as a backdrop to the egret.

i love that the bg is not completely black. bird looks great. exposure spot on. i wonder what it would look like it you flipped it?

I like the composition, details and BG. The plumage looks slightly blue/gray on my monitor.

Axel, you are correct about off white.....I see it now a wee bit dark and a slight blue in shadows
