Nice found and I like the composition. I would try to clean up the leaf and maybe some selective sharpening on the egg, not sure about that, maybe the egg itself has that look.

Nice find as mentioned! I like the placement of the egg in the frame. Agree with other comments above.

Hey Ian,
Great advice above! I do like the comp too and the mentioned tweaks will take this up yet another notch. Not much you can do with the flash highlight in the egg,,,,,,,you'd get one from the sun too......so just the minor tweaks will work for me! Nicely done!

I agree that some cleaning up of the leaf will help this otherwise good shot. The egg looks good and natural as it is, IMO.

I like the placement of the egg and the texture of the leaf it's on.

I'd suggest that if you are interested take a look at the latest Nat'l Geographic. They have some scanning EMs of insect eggs that are stunning.

As above, I like the comp and the way we can see into the egg. Of course, now I'm wondering what that embryo is going to turn into. :)

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I haven't opened my new Nat Geo yet ... will have to go look.

As for the embryo ... a bit scary, eh? Ya' never know what's going to come out (a tiny velociraptor, maybe?)
