Ian,

I like the pose and composition. I am not always sure about perches that are as large as the animal but I think here, the composition lends itself well to the shading and limited DOF thus making the perch not stand out so much.

Is the overall color tone of the image purposely done?

I think the Prairie Dog could use a lot more sharpening unless your idea here is to compliment the color tone for and old-time look.

Ian - I too like the comp. I also agree with Robert that the image looks soft but I like the single tone effect of the image.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. The color tone just reflects the background of the zoo habitat and I just liked the guy up on the perch better than images of the little guys running around on the ground. I agree that it could use some sharpening -- will take care of that.
