It was a treat to get this close to this fellow in full breeding plumage :)

Cheers!

Very nice portrait. Good exposure in the dark areas. I am not sure about the catchlight - I would remove it.

Nice portrait and I like the catch light since it pulls focus from the black-white interface of the head, but personal preference.

In the film days and in photography way back, if you had no catch light the photo was a dead duck, the eye looks more alive with a catch light, you had to in trannie days pierce a small hole in the trannie just to have a catch light. Regards L

Wonderful portrait and not easy to get ths close. Fine composition and exposure. And the catchlight should stay.

Glenn, With the dark eye I feel the CL is needed. I would clone out the small white spots on the lower breast. Oh, Super capture!! Bob

The catchlight needs to stay!

Great portrait, with perfect techs. I feel like there is not enough body anchored at bottom and it looks like the plover can tip over...I'd maybe crop a bit more down there to give it more support on the frame's edge (about halfway between lowest part of the wing and bottom edge).

This is incredibly well done Glenn. I love these kind of shots....IQ is great here. Superb exposure, head angle and BG. Agree with Daniel...a small crop from bottom will make it better.

Great portrait and exposure is nailed on blacks and whites. Like the sharpness. Like the suggestion regarding the crop. Well done

Outstanding portrait of one of my favourite birds. I have never managed to get this close! Excellent IQ, techs spot on and I agree that the catchlight has to stay. Sweet.
