Decide to visit you guys and gals up here in Avain with one from my Tanzania tour. I wish I had thought about pulling out the 1.4 TC for at least a few.......to fill the frame more. This is about a 1/3 crop. I am generally not shy about pushing the ISO either......so wonder why I didn't go a bit higher as we worked this liitle rocket for a while from the vehicles. The BG is the golden grass in the morning.
Canon 1D Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800mm lens at 800mm and ISO 800 at f6.3 and 1/2000 sec. Some more in focus blades of grass smoothed in BG.

Nice.... these devils are tough enough to catch in flight let alone with the monster at 800:D How much did you have to sharpen it - on my monitor the wings seem to be slightly oversharpened.

Terrific pose, eye contact, and color. Sweet light. Not quite as sharp as I would like it to be; not sure if this is due to motion blur or the amount of cropping. I suspect it's a combination of both.

Sweet shot, Roman. I like the colorful Bee-eater and I like the pose with the wings open for landing and the head turned towards you. The little bug and the smooth oof bg are big plusses. Well done.
