This was taken in the Pilanesberg nature reserve a few weekends ago, and I liked how the afternoon light brought out the feather detail.

Great detail in the blacks and I like the perch and clean background -- wish for a bit more eye contact

Good details, as you point out, and despite your high angle I actually like the perspective you got here. Good perch, and I like the subtle texture to the water. I too wish for a better HA.

Love the feather detail and the pose but it needed a lot more head turn... Best for this pose is square to the back of the camera; this one is at least 20 degrees short of ideal...

Stuart, stunning details. Very well exposed and composed. HA issue noted and you probably already knew. The problem is also because of the head tilt.

Thanks a lot guys. Unfortunately a lower angle wasnt possible, and yes, I agree Artie, getting square behind the cormorant should have been 1st prize.
