I guess this guy knew his big red eyes can be imposing as he let me approach my lens to within an inch of it without even flinching. The reds are from my youngest son's clothes.

Canon 40D + Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 @ 48mm + 36 mm extention tube, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/100s., f5.6, ISO 800, +0.7 EC, natural light, handheld. NR applied to the BG. Slight crop bottom and right for comp.

Daniel, This is awesome! I love the comp. w/ the one leg on the stem. Very nice sharp eyes.

Hey Daniel,
The comp is awesome....as you well know I love huge DOF.....this one works extremely well to focus the attention on the eyes.......with falloff where it needs to be and it works! Only suggestion is to blend the dark stem....in the LLC.....but overall a really nice job!

Nice Daniel! And what an achievement to nail that sharp focus on the eyes, hand held at 1/100 sec!:)

Excellent sharpness for HH at 1/100, Daniel. I also like the comp, light, and the creation of the reddish background. :) For my personal taste, I would prefer more DOF, but given the light and HH, it was probably not in the cards. Well done.

Nice! The focus is where it needs to be. I like the composition--with those two diagonal blades of grass and the critter straddling them. The BG colors are just right to complement the bug. Well done!
