Like the way this gannet seemed to be turning his/her head to look at me. Sky as background may be boring for some, but I was happy that there was no fog, or other birds to clone/quick mask out. A shadow over the body from the near wing didn't bother me too much, and I wasn't happy with the result from shadows/highlights, so only lightened it a bit.

Nice exposure and wing position/pose. Might consider a tighter crop or even a pano. Lots of negative space.

Thanks, Joe, I tend to like tighter crops myself, but seem to be in a minority, so I thought I'd give it a bit of room. I actually added canvas left and lower for this. What do you think of the repost?

All the techs are good, I like the stare, and I would have left some more room above the bird. Next time that you go root for some fog, not a ton, but some. At close range the birds look great in the fog.

You got its attention. Well exposed and a ice flight angle. I prefer the repost.

Jory,
How does this work for you?

I like it. I'm a big fan of symmetry, but had thought that maybe I had needed a bit of room ahead of the bird (to our left). Symmetry wins.

With the bird looking back there is no "ahead of the bird." Nice crop by James.
