Juvenile Caracara Portrait

Went out this morning again for Caracara. It seems like that is all we have going around here (not complaining). It is by far the best day yet I have with these birds. At one time, a parent plus two juveniles were going at the roadkill (armadillo) at once. My 600VR on the FX was too close to get all 3 in a frame.
I was able to approach the juvenile and got some close up portrait every time s/he takes a break from eating.
I was really trying to go for the flight shot, 400mm should have been perfect today but I decided to take the 600mm right before I leave the house. :cool:

I prefer the portrait crop Troy. Great detail, HA and multi coloured BG.

We all went out in one car, originally there would be 3 shooters, just didn't feel right bringing 2 long lenses taking up some room in the seat as we usually shoot from the car. But then one ended up not showing up.
Next time will haul both of them out.

Very True. Lesson learned. I remember seeing your presentation with all the gears in the trunk.
