55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX.
28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S. FX
24-120mm f/4G ED VR AF-S. The long-needed replacement for the old, underperforming 24-120mm, this time with a fixed aperture (bravo).
85mm f/1.4G AF-S Nano.

Nice Lance. Now if only Nikon had made the hole in the body a bit bigger they could make an 85/1.2! I have the Canon one (is there any other? OK maybe a Leitz) and no words describe it really.

The problem with Nikon is that, regardless of announcements, it can be years until these lenses are actually available. Many of the more recent camera bodies and lenses are still in very short supply (ie unavailable) in the US. Canon is much better in that respect.

However, as soon as my dealer accepts orders for the 24-120 I'll get my name on the waiting list!

There is always the superb Nikkor 200-400mm f/4 vrII lens, if you have the money to buy it ($7K) and a Sherpa to carry it (7.4 lbs)!:D

80-400 - I meant a light weight lens Norm. Also, I would use the 80-199 wwhile shooting from a kayak. :)

Well, truth to tell, I expected as much!:) But criticisms of your 80-400mm lens for its relatively slow camera-driven autofocus not withstanding, it is an excellent lens with relatively modest weight (for a 400mm) that consistently produces excellent, very sharp images for anything but swift BIF.

I will never relinquish mine, regardless of technological advances in lens design.

And if I owned the 200-400mm masterpiece, I would not take it into a kayak under any circumstances, because I wouldn't want to risk drowning my Sherpa, i.e., my super wife Linda!:cheers:

Based on the dealers and people in the know that I've spoken to, it's a question of no (not even short) supply. However, the flow seems to be slightly better in Europe.

Because my husband used Nikon, I switched just over a year ago. Many lenses and camera bodies remain unavailable to the non professional. I'm about to switch back unless something changes very soon.

Nikon is a tiny company compared to Canon and I have heard that they simply don't have enough trained technicians to assemble the VR super-teles (at least). I remember when I purchased my Canon 500/4, the Nikon equivalent was back ordered by at least 8 months, i.e., not available, or as we say "as rare as rocking horse poo".

What you've said makes it easy to understand why there are so many more Canons in the field than Nikons!:) Still, those who are patient and have sufficient financial resources will not be disappointed by the superb quality of Nikon cameras and lenses.
