Beautiful image Jonathan. Lovely light, colours and bg. I normally prefer that most of the space be in front of the insect but also understand that we can't choose where they decide to perch and that there could have been something to the left that would have spoiled the bg if you composed differently.:)

Lovely colors and details, captured here on both the thistles and the butterfly. Well done

really lovely colours and a very nice feel to the photo. I think it would look great printed up.

Hey Jonathan,
I think the light and comp are excellent although like vida......I might prefer with a bit more room on the left instead.....but you can't always get that.......so overall......this is very well done!

Jon, what Roman said although I might prefer more space on the top instead of on the left. Those wings feel a bit crowded.

I also think you did as well as you could for field conditions but ideally I'd like more space left AND top. ;) A better angle with the butterfly more even to the focal plane would give us a bit more eye contact and that, to me, makes a huge difference. Nice light and exposure....good detail throughout...very nice image overall.
