Nice Jim. Super BG and pose with nice eye contact. Too bad the DoF did not get the rump and tail in focus. On my (calibrated) monitor, the yellows look "hot", which as you know is a pretty common problem. There are ways of toning the yellows down in the LAB colour space. Finally, I think I would take a little of the bottom.

Overall though I really like this.

Jim:

Good comments from John. Nice look back pose, interesting perch. There does seem to be a loss of detail in some areas of the yellows, particularly the breast, which would agree with blown areas, probably in the red channel.

The fun thing about a backyard setup, is you can do it again!

Cheers

Randy

Small nits covered but still a lovely image. I like the pose and the bird pops so nicely from the BG.

Jim, now thats a pose and a half, and on a cool curved perch. Lovely contrast between the yellow and black of the finch. Although I havent checked the yellows - another way of reducing the hot areas in the yellow's is to run a blue filter at around 10%.
