Everything is so late this year coming into colour due to the late hard winter we had, so getting these guys in the blossoming heather before the Glorious 12th shoot proved to be difficult. The heavens had just opened with a deluge of rain, then the sun came up and he popped his head up, looking rather bedraggled and wet. All I wanted was the Grouse in a sea of heather, no PS blurring has been done on the image, all in camera.

The Grouse has been tweaked a little in saturation, sharpening and some curves.

Steve, this one has magazine cover written all over it. Stunning colors, FG-BG blur with sharp beautiful bird. Comp. couldn't have been better. A stunner IMO and thanks for sharing this gem.

This is very cool! The setting, composition, eye contact and sharpness look very good but the color of the surrounding flowers puts it over the top for me.

By 15% crop you mean it is 85% of full frame?

By 15% crop you mean it is 85% of full frame? Yep, so if I need to re cropped there is room. Guess colour is subjective Axel. ;)

What a beauty, Steve. This one will me erase all the previous HA citations. Parallel to the plane is good for me, since I can admire the profile. The surroundings are to die for, really an outstanding portrait as far as I'm concerned.

Hi Steve this is beautiful. The field of flowers with their lovely colors makes this special. I like how you used the depth of focus to isolate the bird. Nice profile with good details. Well seen and captured! Thanks for sharing.

Excellent shot with a nice subject and great surroundings! Love the OOF forground merging into OOF BG. Well done!
