;)

Leaf eaters and not as clever as the other monkeys in Costa Rica, their call is reputed to be the loudest in the animal kingdom.

Hope you like it

Your doing well these guys !!! Exposure looks good and image is sharp Would have increased the ISO to 400 for picking up one extra shutter speed (did fine as presented) I like the shadow detail, difficult here, might just try opening the arm area just a tad !!

Tail is missing (cut) but probably the best option to having all that room down there !! Excellent !!! ... btw would hate to be around if they can scream louder than the howling monkeys !!! :)

Hi Alfred

The noise they make is ungodly, start around 4 am and as a group it's awesome. We also noticed whenever a vehicle passes they howl at it; most amusing.

When I get back with them I will be armed with lots of information from this site and will do a much better job :)

Alf has covered most of the points that I would have raised Richard.

I also like the catchlights in the eyes and would darken down the white areas in the BKGR in between the leaves.

Cheers

Nits allready covered above, you have a very strong "catch light" in the eyes which I may try to tone down a little using Quick Mask.

Great inquisitive pose.

Richard,
I agree that going better is always a good idea. Our knowledge of animal behaviour also increases. I would prefer more space. Don't shy away from higher ISOs if required.

Cheers,

nice pose, exposure and sharpness for that shutter speed...

your 40D should be able to handle ISO400-800 rather well, so as Sabya said, don't be shy :)

Thanks for all the useful comments

Yes the 40D is fine at higher ISO indeed most of my shots are at 400; this particular morning I remember setting to 200 to check results.
