I saw this contrast between this very green plant and brown tree. Its just a bit of a experiment, i'm curious what you think about it.

300mm f4 with canon 1,4 converter handheld.

Thijs, the contrast is interesting. I think this might look better if you masked the green, converted the rest to B&W and went with a tighter crop.

Maybe something like this.

Hey Thijs,
Well.....I like the concept but there are few things that bother me a bit. To me this image is about simplicity.....so the partial trunk on the LL should have been eliminated or wholly included......while the light on the leaf makes it stand out.....which it should.....the trunks are a bit dark. Placing the leaf away from the knot behind it.....would also hep IMO. I don't feel you can do anything about it in PP'ing....but just some food for thought as I think you have an excellent concept!

PS I did eye Kens crop too....he must have posted when I was typing....but still would have preferred L trunk entirely in.

I agree with Roman's composition tips. I do like the concept of "simplicity" here and think Ken's masking really made that leaf pop!
