Hi Stephen what a great looking guy with real attitude too, love it. Personally I think there is more you can get out of it, which would, IMHO really make this image.

I just very quickly tried; Duplicate your layer, Curves > lighten it, Contrast say +10, USM say 100.0.3.0. Create a black mask and paint the Rhino in. I think the detail then just 'pops'?

See what you think.

Personally I think this now works Stephen. With the tweaks I feel it illustrates the great potential of the image in the OP. How do you feel about it now?

You got a great low angle. How did you get that? The angle accentuates the expression. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Thanks everyone for the comments.Steve, yes, I do like the repost more.

Sabyaschi, if you are driving the vehicle that you're shooting from yourself, you tend to be pretty low. This was also on a slight rise.

Thanks again everyone for commenting. Peter, I believe the only way to really combat the slaying of the rhino's is some form of legalized trade in rhino horn. Someone has even suggested putting cyanide in the horns. Talk about an idea not thought through.:D

Nice shot. I like the pose and BG. The way the feet are solidly anchored on the ground portrays the stoutness of the animal for me.

Stephen,

I agree entirely with you whilst this forum is not the place for a discussion on poaching, my understanding is that there are ongoing discussions with regard to the setting up of farms for Rhino horn, and that China is considering this. The trade will never go away when you get the president of Vietnam saying it cured him of cancer:(
