Well, I went out to the Viera Wetlands to see about the black-bellied whistling duck chicks. There were three of us who went in different directions on the search and alas they came out. But, it was later in the morning than I would of liked, but was glad to see them. I liked how the one chick decided to shake as I took the shot:2eyes2:. There are loads of adults out there, everywhere! Taken with the D300s and Nikon 500 f/4, f/7.1, 1/1000 iso 640. I just cropped a bit off the bottom.

I think the mother duck and its ducklings are well-handled...sharpness, details and exposure. That "problem child" certainly makes this photo stand out from from the rest :)

Nice flotilla, the pose of the duckling next to the parent adds interest. Was a lower angle possible? I find the BG a bit distracting and wish the birds were angled toward you.

Thanks Desmand and Axel! Axel a lower angle was not possible because of reeds and well the BG was where they were. I did clean it up a bit where there were darker sticks and such.

Sorry guys.. I was trying to replace the image with my reworked one and the first one keeps reappearing.

Nancy, I like the composition w/ the little ones following the adult. The one duckling adds a lot of cuteness to the image and makes it appealing. The duckweed looks okay to me but I might clean up some of the darker spots in the far BG if it were mine. Nicely done.
