From the Miami Metro Zoo one good looking Orangutan !! The make compelling subjects ! .. just lost one female, oldest in captivity and she was close to fifty !! Tough watching them in their areas but keepers do a good job taking care of their needs.

Comments welcome and much appreciated

Hi Stuart Open Don't think they have any cages at Metro Zoo?

Al, would prefer a real 'heads on' POV on this one. For me it is crying out to be almost symmetrical, well as best one can. Or is that me being to AR?:D

Great colours

.. if we could get the animal to cooperate :2eyes2::cool::cool:

btw I spend time by the gorilla area and they have a lady coming in for sign language sessions, they sure look forward to her visit !!!

Awesome image Al...love it! If this was taken after your Maine adventure, the walk in the heat was worth it and I am sure you were glad to be on solid ground after experiencing the off shore Maine waters.

Alfred,

Very strong composition and use of color on this primate photo. Have heard the Miami Zoo is one of the best in the US. Thanks for sharing...

Orangs are wonderful animals, we used to live in Borneo and would see them in the wild often. Now of course, very few remain. This is a wonderful face which would take a symmetrical pose very nicely, but there is enough colour and detail to carry the portrait especially with those eyes. I do believe most modern, quality zoos provide very good enrichment for their primates which is a good thing.

Hi Al

fascinating subject, but for me the lack of over all sharpness especially the eyes... really detract what could be an amazing image... there is so much fine detail within that face

Al, Really sharp, and cool image! Like it as is, and wow what a different subject! Time for a visit to the zoo, however i'm thinking fall.. it would be a blast to have a BPN get - together there! Are tripods permitted?

Hi Al

I have just applied a small amount of sharpening to a few areas and darkened the eyes a small amount ....
