Jim, this is really rather interesting! I like how the death of the bloom counters the vibrant life of the green leaf. The color saturation is handled very well here. I do wonder if a different angle would have made for a stronger composition though, mainly because the bloom feels very centered, as does the "meeting point" at the top of the leaf. If you had positioned the top of the leaf to one corner and then let the blossom fall on a diagonal towards the bottom opposite corner of the frame, I think this might have been even stronger visually.

I was thinking along the same line as Jules. If you have move canvas to work with, try rotating it counter clockwise a bit and put the "meeting point" closer to the upper left corner.

Hey Jim,
Very good points made by Jules and interesting idea to explore by Ken. The lines you have here are very strong.....draw the eyes to the upper point and away from the blossom.....having the 2 closer would definitely help this comp wise. As presented, I would crop down to more of a pano...just below the blemish on the left....makes a nice diagonal flow and removes some of the glare......eliminating the stong vein convergance point.....puts all the emphasis on the bloom. Just some food for thought. Nice job on the exposure too!
