Anna's Hummingird photographed 1/28/2010 at 3.25 PM at San Elijo Lagoon in northern San Diego county. I watched this nest for a few weekends, waiting for this opportunity.

EOS 7D, EF 300mm L 2.8 IS + 2X, 1/640", F/8, ISO 400, no flash, on tripod

I like the profile of the baby and open beak at peak of feeding.
Would have been nice to see it at different angles ,but probably not possible or predictable. Great to find a subject such as this.

Very nice feeding behaviour and DOF covers the subjects well. Fill flash may have been an option to open up the shadowed areas. I would be tempted to burn in the brighter areas of nest and perch.

Your wait sure paid off, you don't see this feeding posted very often. Do you have any more of these? Very sharp and a nice BG. Agree about the bright banch in lower right. TFS

Very interesting interaction, although the light angle was not with you here, having the left side of the image in the shade. Since chicks feather tend to be so contrasty, maybe a decrease in contrast would be in order. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Great find and interaction. Sharp with a nice angle to the feeding. Way too contrasty. Reduce contrast with a Reverse S Curve, added 40 points of BLACK to the WHITEs on the branch with Selective Color. Selected BKGR with Magic Wand and lightened the sky. All as described in detail in Digital Basics.

Improved the repost with Tim Grey dodge and burn by opening up the shadowed areas and darkened the branch just a bit more :)
