Hi
50 crop and sharpened a little in CS4
CANON 40D 100-400 @ 400 handheld f5.6 1/500, no flash
original had whole bird but with an annoying leaf partially obscuring breast

A nice crop but image quality has been compromised by the large crop (and you left a small bit of the leaf) :) A bit of sharpening of the bird might either improve it or make it worse. The BKGR is just OK> Was this image created at a feeder?

Hi Richard - Nice comp, as Arthur noted image quality is compromised here because of size of the crop. Are you shooting in RAW? The whites could use some help from the ACR Recovery Slider. I would run noise reduction on the full image here as well.
Keep em coming,
Dave

Cant repost as I guess not allowed; keeps bumping image to 52 kb so wont bother

Setting up an attractive perch in front of a pleasing BKGR is a good option when working at a feeder.

Thought Id revisit this one as a whole uncropped image, and having somewhat more knowledge. Of course I cant do anything about the BG and leaves, but this is for some reason one of my favorite pics....

It's the o-o-f foreground leaf in the center that is the image killer :)

Hi Arthur
Very true sir; shame it will have fallen off now too.
But I do like the bird :)
