Bears are my favorite subjects and I just returned from what was my 40th plus week spent photographing bears. It is truly a privilege to be in their presence, observing and documenting behavior.

Like the low angle and the eyes are amazing! Like the water coming off the bear as well. The tight crop really adds to the intimacy.

Mighty fine Chas, personally might have cropped just above the ears?

The running water and wet look together with the low angle takes this over the top. Striking image Chas.

I love it ,you must have been close?
I agree with Hendri the water makes this a lot more than just a bear portrait.

I can smell his breath from here
Bears are one of my favorite subjects as well, just hope I have more opportunities to photograph them.
Wonderful image, I agree that the water puts this one over the top.

Chas, Another mighty fine bear image. Love the wet face and the water dripping. I'm surprised that you have this much dof at f 5.6 at a close distance. His (or her) nose to the ears look sharp as a tack. ?
