Digging into my archives, I found this that I had overlooked. You know how it is, go out on a shoot, process a couple of images - go out on another shoot the following weekend, and the previous images are forgotten. I liked the HA of the Pied Kingfisher, showing off his catch. Taken in the Pilanesberg nature reserve last year April.

Stuart, the expressions on both the faces are priceless. I like tight shots a lot...and this one is no exception. Thx for sharing.

What a nice find in your files, Stuart. I really like that you can see both the bird's and the fish's eyes. The scales on the perch are a nice detail. Could just be me, but I feel as if the entire image could go just a few point brighter.
Thanks for sharing this fine image.

Nice capture Stuart, just think the fish is just a tad too big to swallow whole in one go. :D

Thanks a stack guys. Just to let you all know, after a few bashes against the perch, to soften the fish up, it goes down with ease. ;)

This one is great, Stuart! I usually prefer looser comps, but I think it works here. The eye contact with the fish makes this one for me.

Like the fish and the fact you have highlights in the bird and fish!

Nice one Stuart. I like the opposing lines of the beak and the fish's body as well as how the eyes almost line up. Nice job with the catchlight in both their eyes.

Sharpness and head angle look very good and I think you handled the harsh light well. Great that even the fish has a catchlight. :)

Man, Stuart, that bird is going to have a heck of a time getting that fish down. The belted kingfisher would beat the fish to a pulp on a limb or rock before trying. Wonderful image, by the way.
