Hi Julie- The feature of this bird that jumps out right away is the rusty-red upper breast and throat- not many NA species have this, and points to a Bluebird right away. I can see some bluey-grey on the wing as well. Based on your location it is likely an Eastern Bluebird. The lack of a white throat suggests a male. Young birds before their first moult are speckled so this bird is older than that.

Thanks John. I did detect that bit of blue on the wing, but did not think bluebird. This is the second time I have seen a bird like this in the same area. I will remember the rusty breast and throat as a key feature for bluebirds. As the summer progresses, what changes should I expect to see with this bird before it develops its adult plumage?
