When birds are perching on roofs or top of structures, nothing more fun than stopping down and waiting for that symmetrical pose, the decisive moment!
Taken at a bird sanctuary in St. Petersburg, Fl, on a very wet 4th of July week-end.

Model: Canon 7D
Lens (mm): 330
ISO: 800
Aperture: 11
Shutter: 1/320
hand held

Those eyes are incredible Fabs! I like that there isn't quite perfect symmetry; eyes are level but bill is pointed slightly off to the right. Neck bulges off to the left. High-key adds to the image IMO. I never knew that their eyes were both so visible from below but it makes sense given how they hunt for food.

Cool point of view and I also like the stare and we can see the bulge in the neck. Isn't the iris normally a bit yellow? From this angle the bird looks like an alien. :)

That's what it looks like, not yellow, maybe the cloudy day????

Thanks!!!

A different perspective all together, and it works so well. Good show of the eyes, sharp, and overall well exposed. Well thoughtout Fabs.

I love the most unusual angle dynamics at play here, Fabs. This is a perfect example of beautifully exploiting an unusual pose opportunity.
