took this shot end of last month on my local river,cannon 50d,cannon 400mm prime lens,hand held lying on stomach,f5/6,1/1250 sec,iso800,cropped and sharpened in ps.comments good or bad,all help thanks.

Good angle, look-back pose and soft light. I might sharpen the bird a bit more.

Hi Christopher,
I love the look-back and the soft light and colours are very pretty. As Axel suggested, perhaps a tad more sharpening.

Awesome pose and nice low angle. Looks like the nictitating membrane is showing a bit? It may be an illusion, but it looks like some CW rotation could be needed - I'd try it just to see...

Nice rock and pose. Bummer that the head wound up in the darker water.... The nictitating membrane is the translucent third eyelid that may or may not be evident in this image. Another vote for a bit of CW rotation...

Artie, thanks for answering Christopher's question - I had somehow missed it...(sorry Chris!!:o)

My thoughts were that the front third of the eye seemed covered by that membrane.

YAW. There is something funky going on with the eye...
