Cloned out some leaves from the ULC.

Allen, some of the Zinnias have sprung up past the others so there are some clean BG's to be had.

Boy, you are not kidding about the clean BG's. Nice! Makes me want to head out there again...like now! The Silver-spotted Skipper is not one of my favorite subjects but you really showed it off well here. Very nice constrasting colors and tones...good detail too. Wish it were mine...

Ken, this is so nice-the framing, focus and detail on the flower and butterfly. I don't see how the BG could be any better!

Lovely butterfly image, Ken! Did you desat the reds of the zinnia in any way? They feel like they might be a tiny bit flat in color. Everything else is superb...I love this image and think it's one of the strongest in your portfolio.

Jules, I did desat the reds but only to get closer to what this flower really looked like.

Hey Ken,
Late to the party.....I really can't add much to above comments.....as I think this is really good as presented. did you try opening up the BF (not the brightest areas) a few points just for your own comparision? I do realize that these things get lost in compression....so keep that in mind when trying it! Ver well done composing this with a super BG!

Lovely! Flower and butterfly stand out nicely against that gorgeous BG. Great light and colors. Perfect composition and crop. Wouldn't change a thing.
